Riyadh Philippine Labor Office closed after Coronavirus cases
The Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Riyadh has been temporarily closed after some employees infected with coronavirus announced the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

OWWA said the physical office will be closed, However it will continue to provide services to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), It is not yet revealed how many employees of the office infected.

As per the Administrator of OWWA, The closure is temporary, but the services continue to provide to our countrymen as some staff is tested positive for Corona virus, and majority have tested negative.

  • OFWs in Saudi Arabia who are experiencing flu like symptoms will be assisted by labor officers, they will be given aid, their basic hygiene requirements and will look into their situation, whether they need to be brought to the hospital, that will be our first measure said official of OWWA. 

  • For repatriation, all need to go through medical protocol in Saudi Arabia before they go to Philippines, Medical treatment comes first and foremost. 

  • POLO Riyadh said that its operations were suspended and will remain closed until further notice, The infected staff will undergo quarantine and all embassy personnel who recently came in contact with the infected POLO Riyadh employees should also quarantine and Corona testing to ensure the safety of the transacting public.

  • The office said it will continue to answer the calls, offer consultation services to clients and prove counseling to OFWs in distress. About 2.3 million Filipinos are working in Saudi Arabia as per the survey conducted by Philippine Statistics Authority.
