Jeddah airport terminal closes after 40 years of service
Jeddah : The Southern Terminal of King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah is closing after 40 years of service, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) announced on Saturday.

Flights to the old airport are being gradually directed to the new Terminal 1, said GACA.

Terminal 1, equipped with the latest technology, can accommodate over 30 million passengers per year.

The 810,000-square metre Terminal 1 is equipped with 220 counters to serve passengers and 80 self-service counters with a total of 46 gates.

In March, Saudi Arabia suspended international flights as part of its measures to fight the new coronavirus. Earlier this month, domestic air travel resumed as the kingdom eased restrictions against the virus. No specific date has been set for resuming international flights to Saudi Arabia.
