Saudi Arabia to Ban recruitment of Expats in several Hospitality Jobs

Several hospitality jobs in Saudi Arabia will soon be closed to expatriate recruitment, the Ministry of Labor and Social Development has announced. Saudization aims to increase job opportunities for nationals. 

This year from December, the Saudization policy will be enforced, which includes hotels (3-star and above), resorts, and hotel apartments (4-star and above).

The jobs related to reservation, purchases, marketing, and the front desk will be exclusively for Saudi men and women, except for bellboy, parking valet, driver, and doorman roles. 

The ban on expats extends to the deputy manager, director, assistant director of hotel sales, fitness club supervisors, waiters in restaurants or cafes, tourism inquiry clerks, executive secretaries, and administrative coordinators.

In the supervisor role for food and beverages, room service, events, and laundry, there will be at least one Saudi. 

Expats are prohibited from being recruited for these positions, either directly or indirectly, and from transferring services or being assigned work for specified jobs. Top Viewed: Businesses can now operate 24/7 in Saudi Arabia for a fee.

Companies breaking the decision will be punished according to the relevant regulation, says Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Labor and Social Development.
